Four detained for killing youth

Sahakarnagar police have detained four persons for allegedly killing a 19-year-old youth in Padmavati area on Saturday night. Police suspect the incident to be a fallout of a past dispute as the victim had assaulted the suspects two years ago after they had harassed his sister.

The victim,identified as Tejas Sunil Palke,was a resident of Shankar Maharaj Vasahat in Dhankawadi and worked as a tempo driver besides running a vada paav stall in the evenings.

As per the complaint registered by Palke’s father,he was assaulted by five persons from the same locality with knives around 8.30 pm near Maharashtra Society Square. He suffered stab wounds on chest and neck and died on the way to the hospital,the complaint read.

Senior inspector Kamlakar Takawale said,“Based on the complaint and primary investigation,we have identified the suspects. We have found that Tejas had assaulted the suspects after they harassed his sister two years ago. Of the five suspects,we have detained prime suspect Chetan Misal and three others.”

Police have booked them for unlawful assembly,rioting and murder.
