Flyovers on Ganeshkhind road and Sinhagad road: Opp claims non-availability of CM, Deputy CMs behind delay in inauguration
The 1,540-metre-long flyover from Sinhagad road to the city, extending from the Indian Hume Pipe Company at Manikbaug to Inamdar Chowk near Hingane, is almost complete. It crosses four junctions along the route.

The plans to inaugurate the flyovers on Ganeshkhind road and Sinhagad road in Pune by August 15 has got delayed as the civic administration claimed it would require a few more days to do so. However, opposition NCP (SP) alleged the inauguration of the flyovers was delayed as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is not available for the event.
“The work on Sinhagad road flyover for vehicles moving from Manikbaug to Hingane is in the last stages. It would require more time to be completed so its inauguration will be done after a few more days. It will be inaugurated along with the flyover on Ganeshkhind road being constructed by Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA),” said municipal commissioner Naval Kishore Ram.
NCP (SP) spokesperson Sunil Mane said citizens are facing serious problems in commuting on Ganeskhind road and Sinhagad road. “The flyovers are complete but cannot be opened as the chief minister and deputy chief ministers have not given time for the inauguration. The authorities should consider the inconvenience to citizens rather than waiting for the chief minister and deputy chief ministers for the inauguration,” he said.
The 1,540-metre-long flyover from Sinhagad road to the city, extending from the Indian Hume Pipe Company at Manikbaug to Inamdar Chowk near Hingane, is almost complete. It crosses four junctions along the route.
However, the PMC first inaugurated the 495-metre-long flyover from Vithalwadi to Veer Baji Pasalkar Udyan, jumping the main junction of the Rajaram bridge. Later, one arm of the flyover from Vithalwadi to Fun Time theatre on Sinhagad road in Vadgaon Budruk was opened to the public.
The flyover is expected to ease traffic flow on Sinhagad road which is the only road providing connectivity from the suburbs of Dhayari, Vadgaon Budhruk and Khadakwasla to the central part of the city. The Maha-Metro has planned a metro route on the same road but is awaiting Union government approval for the construction of an elevated metro in the area.
Meanwhile, the PMRDA has speeded up work on Ganeshkhind road flyover which is nearing completion. “The arm of the flyover enabling traffic flow from Aundh to Shivajinagar is almost ready and will be open for public use in the next few days. However, the other two arms of the flyover from Shivajinagar to Baner and Pashan will take two more months for completion,” said Yogesh Mhase, Metropolitan Commissioner, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), recently.
The PMRDA as per demand of BJP legislators has invited Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde to inaugurate the flyover and is awaiting their confirmation.
