Rani Mukherji and film director Sachin Kundalkar had come to the city to promote their latest venture Aiyaa at PVR Cinemas at Phoenix Market City on Friday. In the movie Rani Mukherji plays the character of Meenaxi Deshpande,a simple Marathi small town girl,with a very sensitive nose. “While writing the story I had thought of a typical S P College girl in my mind,” said Kundalkar candidly. “Anuraag Kashyap liked the idea of a girl falling in love with a man due to his mysterious smell,” he added. Mukherji has also done a belly dancing sequence in the movie. “I think all of us women can connect to Meenaxi,” said Mukherji. The movie also has senior artists like Jyoti Subhash,Satish Alekar and Nirmiti Sawant. The movie has been produced by Anuraag Kashyap Films Pvt. Ltd.

The Lila Poonawalla Foundation organised a workshop on the “Awareness of Various Arts” at Hotel Deccan Rendezvous recently on September 16. Around 40 Lila Fellows (awardees of the Poonawalla Foundation scholarship) actively participated in the workshop. It was conducted by Maya Dongre,an artist involved in promoting many art forms originating in India as well as abroad,for over 35 years,assisted by Lila Fellow Aparna Bhandar. The workshop highlighted tribal arts like Warli,Madhubani,and Egyptian,as well as fabric painting.
