Five held for selling pirated VCDs & DVDs

Police have seized pirated VCDs and DVDs worth Rs 11.2 lakh from the suspects.

The crime branch of Pune police on Tuesday arrested five persons for allegedly selling pirated VCDs and DVDs of Marathi,Hindi and English movies,including pornographic films,in Hadapsar. Police have seized pirated VCDs and DVDs worth Rs 11.2 lakh from the suspects.

Police have identified the suspects as Rajesh Mohammed Mulani (36),Anil Bhimanna Vardate (35),both residents of Kale Padal,and Viki Anil dhone (22),Javed Nazid Shaikh (18) and Rajesh Narayan Khadse (24),all residents of Hadapsar.

Acting on a tip-off from field officer of an anti-piracy firm Umeshkumar Singh,a team led by senior police inspector Bhanupratap Barge raided a spot at Bhekrai Nagar on Pune-Saswad Road and Shree Sairaj Music Center at Mantri Market in Hadapsar and seized pirated VCDs and DVDs. An offence has been registered at Hadapsar police station.
