The 41st Maharashtra State Senior Inter-District Volleyball Championship was launched at the Rajiv Sable Foundation Sports Complex in Saswad on Thursday.
This State level Championship which has entered its 41st year will see 70 teams and over 1,000 players taking part. This prestigious tournament will go on till Sunday at the Rajiv Sable Foundation Sports Complex. The 35 teams in the boys category are divided into 8 groups while the 31 teams from the girls category will also see the teams divided into 8 groups. Top 2 teams from each group in both categories will advance to pre quarters,followed by quarters,semis & finals.
All league matches (M/W) will be played of best of 3 sets with 3rd set of 15 points.
The tournament will boast of star attractions like Vikram Sing Maan (Pune),Youth India Player,National players like Saurabh Rokde (Nagpur),Dhanjay Tajane (Pune),Asif Mulla (Mumbai),Shakeel Ahmed (Beed) & Chhatrapati Award Winner of 2001,Dinkar Deshpande (Mumbai).
The boys category will have a total of 76 matches,while the girls category will have a total of 52 matches. In the league round up the boys category will feature 60 matches and the girls category will feature 36 matches.
