Dead woman, two children thrown in river: Cops probe sequence of events at Kalamboli hospital
Officials said the deceased woman was separated from her husband, who works as a driver in a middle eastern country.

THE Pimpri Chinchwad police have started probing the sequence of events that took place at a hospital at Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai as part of their investigation into the death of a 25-year-old pregnant woman, whose dead body was thrown into Indrayani river on the Talegaon Chakan road in Pune, along with her two sons when they were still alive.
A team from the Pimpri Chinchwad police station visited the hospital on Wednesday and were in the process of questioning doctors, staff and others connected to the incident, said a police officer.
The investigation by Pimpri Chinchwad police into the missing persons case of the pregnant woman from Talegaon Dabhade and her children revealed on Sunday that the body of the woman, who had died at a hospital in Kalamboli on July 8, was thrown into Indrayani river on the Talegaon Chakan road in Pune on July 9, along with her two sons. The woman had been taken to the hospital to perform a Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP).
“Our team went to Kalamboli in Navi Mumbai to probe the sequence of events that took place at a hospital. We are investigating under what circumstances she was taken to the hospital and what happened at the hospital which led to her death. We will try to ascertain whether the MTP was performed or not and the role played by the doctor and staff at the hospital. We have also come to know Navi Mumbai civic body had cancelled the permission of the hospital to perform surgical medical procedures. Our probe will focus on that aspect too,” said a senior officer, who is part of the probe.
Earlier, police arrested the woman’s paramour Gajendra Dagadkhair (37), who works as a driver, and his accomplice Ravikant Gaikwad (35), who works as a nurse, on the charges of murder, presuming the two children have not survived. Police have also booked a doctor at the hospital in Kalamboli and an intermediary woman in connection with the deaths.
During the investigation into the missing persons’ case, it had come to light that Dagadkhair had sent the woman with his friend Gaikwad for an MTP. Initial investigation suggests that the woman died during a medical procedure.
Subsequently, Gaikwad brought back the body and the woman’s two children. Dagadkhair and Gaikwad threw the body in the Indrayani river in Talegaon MIDC area in the early hours of July 9. When the children witnessed the incident and started crying, they were also thrown alive into the river.
Officials said the deceased woman was separated from her husband, who works as a driver in a middle eastern country. The two were in the process of getting a divorce.
