Sairat actor Rinku Rajguru, a Class X student, will be among several film and television stars at the Dahi Handi celebrations in the city and Pimpri-Chinchwad on Thursday.
Rajguru’s presence is expected to pull in a massive crowd. The police and the organisers are reportedly ‘taking no chances’ to ensure the celebrations pass without any hitch.
Rajguru, popularly known as Archie in Maharashtra will be present at two places — Bhosari and Warje.
“She was supposed to attend a third dahi handi celebration at Sahakarnagar tomorrow… but that has been cancelled,” said Pravin Chavan, personal assistant to Sairat director Nagraj Manjule, who is reportedly handling Rajguru’s promotional activities.
In Bhosari, the Dahi Handi celebrations are organised by MLA Mahesh Landge. Landge said they were making all arrangements to ensure smooth arrival and exit for Rajguru. “We are aware about what happened at other places which she visited… So, we are planning a secret entry at the spot,” he said.
Landge said managing the crowd would be a challenge but it would be a big moment for the crowd as Rajguru was visiting Pimpri-Chinchwad for the first time after Sairat’s success. Landge also refused to comment on the fees Rajguru would get for attending the celebrations.
She is likely to arrive in Bhosari at 9 pm and reach Warje at 10.30 pm. Her security has remained a major concern for the Maharashtra police as there has been a huge turnout whereever she has attended functions.

In her first function in Sangli, a couple of months after Sairat became a hit, the police had to resort to lathi-charge after they failed to control the crowd. Similarly at her latest function at Vita in Sangli, it took Rajguru quite a while to ascend the stage. Even in her hometown of Akluj in Solapur, the town had come to a halt when Rajguru led a procession of the Sairat team there.
The Bhosari police seem to be taking no chances to ensure that the celebrations continued peacefully. “We are making all security arrangements for tomorrow in Bhosari. We are in touch with the organisers,” said API Mahesh Swamy.
