Dacoit attacks Pimpri Chinchwad cops with machete, injured DCP fires at accused in retaliation
The Pimpri Chinchwad police team had laid a trap to nab the two men wanted in a case of dacoity.

A deputy commissioner of police and an assistant police inspector of the Pimpri Chinchwad police were injured early Monday when an accused in a dacoity case attacked them with a sharp weapon while they were trying to apprehend him in a village in the Pune district.
The police said the accused, Sachin Chandar Bhosale, a resident of Ahmednagar district’s Shrigonda, received a bullet injury on his leg after DCP Shivaji Pawar fired at him in the Mauje Chinchoshi village in the Khed taluka. Assistant Police Inspector Prasanna Jarhad was also injured in the attack.
Jarhad later lodged a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the incident at the Chakan police station. As per the FIR, a police team led by Pawar laid a trap at around 12.15 am at the ghat section between Chinchoshi to Kendur road to nab Sachin Bhosale and Mithun Bhosale, wanted in a case of dacoity.
While the police tried to nab Sachin, he allegedly attacked Pawar and Jarhad with a koyta or a machete, injuring them. In retaliation, Pawar fired two bullets from his service pistol at Bhosale, hitting him on his right leg, said the police. Mithun was later nabbed by the police.
After receiving information about the attack, an additional police team rushed to the spot.
A separate offence of attempting to murder police officers on duty was lodged against him under sections 109, 132, 121 (1), 262 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections of the Indian Arms Act.
DCP Pawar and Assistant Inspector Jarhad were treated at a hospital, and their condition is reported to be stable.
Senior Police Inspector Pramod Wagh is investigating the case further.
