Additional sessions judge US Thakare granted permission to main accused in the RTI activist Satish Shetty murder case to get himself tested for hernia in a private hospital in the city. Dabhade had applied for interim bail on medical grounds.
Counsel Gorakshanath Kale argued that Dabhades medical reports show that he has hernia. Had it been a routine illness,it could have been tested in Sassoon General Hospital. Kale demanded a medical test in Jehangir Hospital to determine the gravity of hernia and whether operation was required. The court has allowed them to conduct the test in Jehangir Hospital with their expenses and submit the report in court.
The next date of hearing on the bail plea is July 31. Dabhade, whose earlier bail application was rejected by the sessions court, has sought interim bail on medical ground. Kale had said that his client was suffering from blood pressure and shoulder dislocation at that time and he should be released on bail for two months to receive treatment. The CBI,in its written statement, had opposed the bail,as Dabhades counsel had not enclosed medical papers with the bail application to substantiate the claim that his client was in dire need of treatment. The CBI said Dabhade has been treated for dislocation of shoulder in the jail and that he would be given treatment if he was suffering any other ailment.
