Cricket: easy win for Venky’s

Venkys defeated Allana College of Pharmacy by 63 runs in the first match of the Licel T20 Inter-Pharma Cup 2010 at the Katariya High School Ground here.

Electing to bat after winning the toss,Venky’s relied on solid partnerships from the top order to post a competitive score of 174/6 in the allotted 20 overs.

In response,Allana were bundled out for 111 runs,thanks to a good display from Venky’s bowler Vikas Ghule,who picked up three wickets.

Arvind Chauhan was adjudged the man of the match for his innings of 62 off 42 balls,studded with 5 fours and 3 sixes.

In another match,after being put into bat by South Pharma,Sujanil piled up a score of 181/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Rahul Thigale was the top-scorer with 62 runs of 38 balls. South Pharma could not score runs quickly enough,and fell short of the target,ending up with 107/8 after 20 overs.

Mihir Mehta produced a brilliant all-round performance,scoring 36 of 15 balls and capturing three South Pharma wickets,which won him the man of the match award.
