Court orders probe against Palshikar,others

Passing an order over a private complaint lodged by advocate Bhai Vivek Chavan of Lohegaon Road,the judicial magistrate on Friday directed police investigation against Dr Suhas Palshikar,the former member of the NCERT text book council,Dr Hari Vasudevan,the chairperson and advisor and Yogendra Yadav,the former chief advisor,for a cartoon of Dr BR Ambedkar appearing in school text books.

Passing an order over a private complaint lodged by advocate Bhai Vivek Chavan of Lohegaon Road,the judicial magistrate (first class) on Friday directed police investigation against Dr Suhas Palshikar,the former member of the NCERT text book council,Dr Hari Vasudevan,the chairperson and advisor and Yogendra Yadav,the former chief advisor,for a cartoon of Dr BR Ambedkar appearing in school text books.

Advocate Chavan had filed the complaint on May 25 alleging that Palshikar,Vasudevan and Yadav had included Dr Ambedkar’s cartoon in text books in an attempt to create communal tension. Chavan demanded that an offence should be registered against them and investigation conducted as per section 156 (3) of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).

Judicial Magistrate (First Class) SS Patil passed the order saying,“It appears that offences under IPC sections 153 (A),153 (B),295 are cognisable. Considering facts and circumstances of the case,it will be desirable to send the matter to the police station concerned for investigation.”

“Therefore,as the offences alleged against the accused are cognisable,send the matter for investigation as per the section 156 (3) of CrPC to the police station,and call their report,” the order stated.
