The Pune police have identified the couple found dead at Agarwal stone quarry on Tuesday morning. Police said the girl was Pooja Dhanraj Chavan (17),a resident of the Railway staff quarters on Tadiwala Road and the youth was Samir Hamid Sayyad (21) of Munjaba Wasti in Dhanori. Police suspect the couple committed suicide but the reason behind it was not confirmed till reports last came in.
Following a call on the police control room,a team of Vimantal police station rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies on Tuesday.
Police found a mobile phone in the pocket of the deceased boy. The sim card in this mobile phone helped the police reveal his identity. Meanwhile,Pooja’s family had registered a missing person complaint at Bund Garden police station on Saturday. Police said Pooja’s relatives live near Samir’s residence in Dhanori.
Pooja has passed SSC,while Samir operated a tea stall. Samir was not residing at his home for the last few months.
