The Pune unit of the anti-terrorism squad (ATS) on Tuesday submitted various forged documents in German Bakery Blast accused Mirza Himayat Inayat Baig’s name as supplementary evidence before the court of special judge Usha Thakare.

The documents submitted by assistant commissioner of police (ATS) Vinod Satav included Baig’s fake caste and domicile certificate from Beed, blank forms of Ambejogai Regional Transport Office (RTO) bearing RTO stamps and a ration card bearing the Beed address. He also submitted statements of Beed tehsildar and Ambejogai RTO officer stating that the caste, domicile and RTO forms are fake. The supplementary evidence also comprises details of calls made by Baig from his Tata Indicom and Vodaphone numbers corroborated by respective nodal officers.

Satav, who is also the investigating officer of the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case, also submitted a 161-page supplementary chargesheet in the case,in which 21 alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operatives have been arrested. “Though Baig is not an an accused in the case, the chargesheet has a reference to him being in touch with the accused,” he said.

The court has asked Baig’s counsel A Rehman to give his version on these additional documents after studying them on March 1. “The documents have been placed before the court to prove Baig’s conduct; they have nothing to do with the blast,” Rehman said.
