Cops foil robbery bid,arrest seven

Foiling a dacoity bid,the Pune police on Friday arrested seven men associated with the Ganesh Marne gang.

Foiling a dacoity bid,the Pune police on Friday arrested seven men associated with the Ganesh Marne gang. They were about to loot a jewellery shop near Sadhu Vaswani chowk,the police said. A sophisticated foreign-made revolver,sharp weapons,cell phones,nylon rope,chilli powder and two cars,all worth Rs 10.23 lakh,were also recovered from the gang.

The accused are Ganesh Sagdevan Pillay (35) of Khadki,Rahul Vilas Adsul (25) of Khadki,Aniruddha Sunil Naik (25) of Meera Society,Shankarsheth Road,Kailas Dnyanoba Mohol (33) of Shastri Nagar,Kothrud,Sachin Rohidas Bhandvalkar (27) of Bhaiyyawadi,Khadki,Santosh Vinayak Lambe (27) of Shastri Nagar,Kothrud and Rahul Ramchandra Taru (30) of Sahkarnagar.

Acting on a tip-off to police naik Pandurang Wanjale,the crime branch team led by inspector Kishor Jadhav nabbed the suspects in the premises of Sassoon Hospital. “The gangsters were planning to loot a jewellery shop at Sadhu Vaswani chowk,” said assistant commissioner of police (crime) Prabhakar Patil.

“We have recovered a high quality revolver from Pillay. The crime branch has seized 26 firearms since January. Our sleuths have foiled five dacoity bids this year,in which 26 persons were arrested,” said Patil.
