Here’s a chance for men to demonstrate they can cook as well,if not better, than women

To prove wrong all those people who think men are only efficient in the boardroom, here’s an event that will defy convention and show that they are as good,if not better,in the kitchen. At an event called Men Can Cook, organised by food critic Karen Anand and Carlsberg, participants will be divided into a group of six teams or single men and each group will be given a variety of ingredients, along with other basic material like a gas range, knives, dishes. These groups will prepare dishes within a given time and then these dishes will be judged on certain parameters. The concentration will be on groups consisting of corporate heads, designers, celebrities, sportsmen and the like. This will be followed by a cocktail party (a Carlsberg event) with a selection of simple snacks.

The premier event will be held in Pune followed by other cities in the country in the course of the year. Men Can Cook is a fun cookery contest which will encourage men to cook, keeping in mind the concepts of freshness, simplicity, fine dining and luxury and provide the perfect opportunity to unwind and enjoy the leisurely experience of cooking a couple of dishes. Dishes will be judged on appearance, taste and creativity. The aim of this exercise is to have fun, learn how to work as a team and to explore the possibilities of your potential as a creative cook,by choosing the right ingredients and methods of cooking. Carlsberg beer will be one of the key ingredients of the dishes they will prepare.

Speaking on the occasion,Pradeep Gidwani, managing director,Carlsberg said,“Fine food and fine beer go well together. It will be fantastic to see successful men cooking with passion and enjoying some great beer.”

Participants from Pune include Suku Shah (Owner,Olive Tree Trading),Shantanu Shorey (Photographer and Ad Filmmaker),Jean Jacques (Director,Alliance Francaise),B S Ratta (Head of Paedriatics),Rahul Kirloskar (MD,Kirloskar Group),Amit Kalyani (MD Bharat Forge) and Farhad Forbes Marshall (MD-Forbes Marshall).
