Cong takes on alliance for PMPML board post

Unable to get much to its share despite allying with the NCP in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC),the Congress is all set to take on the alliance partner by jumping in the fray for the post of PMPML board director.

Unable to get much to its share despite allying with the NCP in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC),the Congress is all set to take on the alliance partner by jumping in the fray for the post of PMPML board director.

The civic body has to appoint one of its elected representatives as PMPML director and it was supposed to be done in the general body meeting on Friday. However,the meeting was adjourned after the ruling NCP got to know of the challenge from the Congress.

“We have staked claim for the PMPML director. There is not much that we have in spite of being in the ruling alliance,” said Congress leader Arvind Shinde. He said the NCP was not revealing its plan and at the last minute conveyed that it had finalised its party corporator for the post.

The general body was also supposed to nominate corporators for committee that decides on giving names to civic properties. The meeting has been adjourned till April 23.

The election for the PMC education board is schedule on April 27.
