Comedy of errors

After an awe-inspiring response to the play Katyar Kalajat Ghusali which was launched last year,Rahul Deshpande,noted classical singer and grandson of late Dr Vasantrao Deshpande,is re-launching the traditional musical play,Sangeet Sanshay Kallol. Originally written by Govind Ballal Deval,this play,with its core theme of infidelity which is brought out through humour,is an all-time favourite of theatre and music lovers. In his effort to contribute towards the diminishing art of musical theatre,Deshpande has tried to keep the content and narrative of the play humorous and interesting to up the entertainment quotient. He is also using Facebook and Smses to contact the young enthusiasts of musical theatre and motivate them to come and watch the play. The original five-act play has been shortened to two acts in keeping with present times and the number of songs has been reduced to 16 from 65. The play is being directed by Nipun Dharmadhikari of Tichi 17 Prakarane and Dalan fame. Deshpande will play the main lead of Ashwin Sheth in this comedy of errors,which will be staged at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium on April 24,at 4 pm.
