Collectorate building work to start after monsoon

New parking rules in place

The much-delayed green building of the Pune District Collectorate will get the required push after the parking rules were put in place. Every 100 sq m will have the capacity to accommodate three cars,15 scooters and 4 cycles. The construction of the building is likely to start after monsoon.

According to the new rules, for every 100 sq m of carpet area,80-90 sq m additional space will be allotted for parking. Going by the rules, the new building will have a dedicated 1.60 lakh sq m of parking area.

The new building will have seven floors besides two floors dedicated to parking. “There were delays owing to no clear rules on parking. However, with the rules spelt out,we should be able to start the project soon,’’said a senior official from the PWD.

The official said the building was proposed to start in November last year. The new building will adopt the green building norms. The private bidders will be invited to carry out the construction on the proposed 2 lakh sq ft after the existing building is demolished.

The officials have been maintaining that the new building will resemble Sansad Bhavan with optimum use of natural light to help save energy. The ground floor of the building will house offices that usually deal with public issues. The top floor will bee reserved for collector’s office. Besides conference rooms, there will be waiting rooms on every floor. Special arrangements will be made on every floor for the physically challenged, said officials.
