CMS Falcons,BEG notch up wins

Savio D’ Souza converted another for Falcons in stoppage time to give them a 2-1 victory and a winning start to their 2010 campaign.

BEG were also gifted a winning start by their opponents Pune Division Central Railway,who gave them a walkover.

Rupali relied on goals from Nikhil Dhankawde and Dhananjay Shinde to beat Sky Hawks 2-0 in the First Division match played at the Range Hills ground. Dhankawde drew first blood in the 17 th minute,and Shinde added another three minutes after halftime,the note said. Rupali held on for the rest of the match to secure victory.

In the Second Division matches played at the same venue,VOBA beat Unique Wanowrie 3-1,while Bharati FC edged out Deccan XI 1-0.

Shoaib Shaikh gave VOBA a 1-0 lead early in the match,finding the back of the net in the 9 th minute. Yusuf Hakim doubled the lead in the 22 nd ,before Reuben Lobo scored again in the 30 th as VOBA went into the half with a commanding 3-0 lead. Unique Wanowrie scored a consolation goal through Chrispen Ballari,but could not make up the deficit as VOBA held on for the win.

Bharati FC striker Avneet Singh’s strike in the 20 th minute was all that separated them from their opponents Deccan XI as they secured a narrow victory to take all three points.
