Classical dance forms too are like are ancestors,and we need to preserve our cultural heritage,” said actor Jackie Shroff,who was in the city to promote the Shaniwarwada Dance and Music Festival,now in its 10th year. The annual cultural festival is an attempt to celebrate and protect classical dance forms. The event will see performances by acclaimed dancers as well as students belonging to dance schools. The key highlight this year is the introduction of the Lifetime Achievement Award,to be awarded to the Padmavibhushan Sitara Devi. Also,three generations of a family devoted to dance – Sitara Devi,her daughter Jayantimala and grandchildren Rishika Mishra and Vishal Krishna will perform at the event,which will be held on March 13 and 14 at Shaniwarwada.
