A Class XII student committed suicide in her house in Pimple Nilakh on Saturday afternoon, police said.

Sangvi police said Madhuri Shahaji Yadav (17) was an epilepsy patient and must have taken the extreme step after getting fed up of her disease,as a suicide note says not to hold her parents responsible for her suicide.

At 5.30 pm,when her father returned home,he found Madhuri hanging from the ceiling by a sari. Prakash Bhujbal, assistant police inspector with Sangvi police station, said,“She has said in the note that no one but she be held responsible for the suicide and neither parents nor anyone else be held responsible for it. Neighbours have told us that she suffered from epilepsy and was also taken to a quack for a cure.”

Shantaram Tayde, senior inspector with Sangvi police said,“She had fared well in Class X exams and her Class XII papers had also gone well. The stress could have been due to illness. Her father works with Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation with the election department.”

Ske was alone at the house at the time of the incident. Bhujbal said,“We will try to get more information from her parents when they are in a position to give us their statements.” Madhuri’s mother is a home maker while her brother studies in Class X.
