The state education department has clarified that the admission process for Class XI will not be online in Pune. The centralised admission process,as in the previous years,will continue in the city. The sale of application forms will start on June 26,a day after the Class X results are announced,in all the recognised junior colleges in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The government has decided to conduct online admissions to class XI only in Mumbai this year. The education department on Wednesday clarified that there will be no online admission process in the Pune division that consists of junior colleges in Pune,Solapur and Ahmednagar districts.
Deputy Director of Education Department GK Mhamane,assistant director VM Gaikwad and SP College principal DN Sheth briefed the media about the admission process. SP College will be the main coordination centre for the process. All recognised junior colleges in the city will sell the application forms from 11 am to 5 pm from June 26 to 30.
There will be 11 sub-centres in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad,where application forms will be sold till July 2. At SP College,the forms will be available till July 4. There are 21 centres in the city and Pimpri-Chinchwad where application forms will be accepted from June 26 to July 4 from 11 am to 5 pm,except on Sundays.
The department has appealed to the students and parents to buy application forms from nearby colleges. There is no need to rush to a particular college to buy the forms as the admissions will be made given through the centralised process, said Gaikwad.
This year,around 7,000 seats have increased in the city and Pimpri-Chinchwad colleges. There is an increase of around 2,000 seats each of science and commerce stream this year over last year. The seats for the bi-focal course have increased by 1,000. In all,as many as 83 divisions have increased in the junior colleges in the city and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Mhamane also clarified that the maximum fee for science stream in the unaided colleges or unaided divisions in aided colleges will be Rs 13,000. The parents can complain to the department if any college is charging higher than that. The parents can also file complaints if any college demands donation, he said.
Mhamane said the application forms will cost Rs 50 each and no college can charge more than that. The date of merit list will be declared afterwards. Only those students scoring 40 per cent or above are eligible for admission to the science stream, he said.
He said the students will have to produce the original copy of marklists of class X while buying the application forms. With the application forms,attested copies of school leaving certificate,mark list and caste certificate should be submitted, he said.
All admissions to bifocal subjects will be done through table admission process. A provisional merit list will be published on June 6 at 1 pm,on which students can file their grievances on July 7 from 10 am to 4 pm at SP College. The final merit list will be displayed at SP and Fergusson Colleges on July 8, said DC Nevse,deputy director of professional education department.
He said the admissions to bifocal subjects would be given on the spot in a process that will be conducted from July 9 to 13 at Fergusson College.
The Education Department has clarified that it is ready with a plan if the 90:10 formula was to implemented for this years admissions. We have told the application acceptance centres to sort out the forms of SSC and other board students. As there are very few students of CBSE and other central board students,there will be no delay in the admission process, said Mhamane.
