Activist Ravi Barhate on Monday demanded the resignation of PMC acting health chief Dr Somnath Pardeshi alleging that his registration has not been renewed by the Maharashtra Medical Council.
Addressing the press conference in the city,Barhate alleged that Pardeshi had failed to apply for renewal or continuation of his registration to the MMC. He said he has sent the letters of complaint to municipal mommissioner, police commissioner and the MMC.
A statement issued by Dr R M Dahigaonkar, registrar of MMC on November 16,2011,states that Pardeshi had applied for registration to the MMC on November 1,2011 and it was pending with the committee.
However ,in the MMC meeting on March 10 this year it came to light that Pardeshi had not renewed his registration for more than 22 years. The members, however, did not decide upon the matter as it was subjudice. When contacted,Pardeshi said he had paid the charges for renewal of the registration.
