‘Water should be in curriculum’
“Water and related issues needs to be taught in educational institutes as an interdisciplinary subject. The topic has ceased to be just an engineering subject,but is closely related with economics,sociology and politics,” said Dr Madhav Gadgil,former secretary,Ministry of Water Resources. He was speaking on ‘Water for the future’ at the sixth meet of the Forum of Science and Technology (FST) at AISSMS College of Engineering here,said a press note.

‘Knowing Japanese a boon for engineering students’
“Engineering students who are proficient in the Japanese language deserve a 30-40 percent hike in remuneration,” said Suhas Mate,president of Japanese Language Teachers’ Association,Pune. He was addressing students of the Vishwakarma Institute of Technology at a seminar on ‘Career opportunities for engineers with proficiency in Japanese language’. Tanabe Tomonari,Japanese language adviser for west India,VIT director Hemant Abhyankar,SY Prabhu,dean (planning and development) were also present.

Abhinav student shines in drawing competition
Sourabh Mankar,a Class V student of Abhinav Education Society’s English Medium School,Ambegaon,bagged the third place at the state-level in a drawing and handwriting competition organised by Pedilite Industries Ltrd. He will now represent Maharashtra in the semifinal round to be held in Goa,said a press note issued here.
