Pune, for the next 48 hours, will witness a slight dip in the minimum temperature, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Friday. This comes in the backdrop of Pune recording a lower minimum temperature than the hill station of Mahabaleshwar on Thursday. While in Mahabaleshwar it was 14.9 degree Celsius, in Pune it was 14.4 degree Celsius. Dr Anupam Kashyapi, head, weather forecasting department of IMD, while speaking to The Indian Express, said Pune’s present temperature range is slightly below its normal range of temperature. “At present, the state does not have any weather system which has led to clear skies and a dip in temperature,” he said. The IMD’s report shows that the minimum temperature is lower than the normal range by only 0.3 degree Celsius. Pune’s maximum temperature on Thursday was 30.6, which is almost normal. The clear skies and lack of moisture in the air is mainly responsible for the present temperature range. This trend is expected to continue till November 20. On November 20, the south easterlies are expected to lead to moisture incursion in the air. Also, the skies are expected to see cloud cover from the evening of November 20. This can lead to a slight temperature rise in and around Pune. Overall, the temperature range would be slightly higher than the present range. Post November 20, another dip in temperature is expected after the north easterlies and the moisture content of the air is expected to end. Overall, Pune is expected to see a dip of 2 degree Celsius.
