In a step towards a green environment,Sanyog Mohite has made Do You? — a film on environmental awareness for children
Do you remember your first piggy bank? All of us have fond memories associated with childhood piggy banks. We vividly remember dropping the coins into the bank and watching the money multiply and then finally having the satisfaction of buying something with our very own money. Did we ever think of contributing some of the savings to the betterment of our environment? Well,at that age,its highly impossible,as our selfish needs overpower the will to do something for others with the money. Not just children, adults too have a similar attitude.
This movie has been so well-received that it has been nominated in the amateur film category at the CMS Vatavaran Environment and Wildlife Film Festival that will be held in Delhi. When asked about his experience,Mohite says,With a minimal amount of money — Rs120 — with which I bought the tape and much help from my friends,I could make this possible. Where there is a social cause, everyone steps forward to help. I am very thankful to Swatee Gullati, the mother of the children as she encouraged them to personally start planting the saplings for real in their backyard. This gave a natural touch to the film. He has also distributed CDs of the film to schools and wants the message to reach out to maximum number of children.
