Among many different definitions of celebrations,city-based businessman Vijaykumar,founder of Vijaykumar Devraji Mehta Charitable Trust chose the philanthrophic way. Mehta decided to celebrate his 57th birthday by hosting a party for over 500 underprivileged and physically challenged children from various schools and institutions in the city.
Ive been celebrating the last few birthdays the same way,says the unassuming and modest Mehta,adding,The happiness I get among these children is something which I can not express.
Noted Surgeon and head of Arogya Sena,Dr Abhijit Vaidya,who was present on the occasion,praised the act of kindness by Mehta,saying,”Normally people spend lavishly on parties,religious ceremonies on such occasions,but thinking of the underprivileged children and spending joyful moments with them is really a praiseworthy effort”.
This was like a New Year party for the kids and not just a birthday celebration,added a trustee of the trust. The children from the various schools were treated to gifts,balloons and sumptuous dinner at the occasion,which they would fondly remember for a long time.
