Set to rock the Baaja-Gaaja stage,Delhi-based band Half Step Down is celebrating the disappearance of boundaries between different genres of music
Today,Delhi-based band Half Step Down will take centrestage in the city. What’s unique about this performance is that the band is the only rock band in this year’s edition of Baaja Gaaja, the musical festival dominated by the classical arts. And it will be a double treat as true to its name, the band plays its songs tuned half a step down. For the uninitiated, tuning down a guitar means tuning all the strings of the guitar to a lower pitch. If the guitar is tuned one half down from the standard,it is called tuning the instruments half a step down.
The band has just undergone changes in its line-up,with guitarist Karan Dutta having left the band. Lumba says,Our band has never had a fixed line-up. The core of the band me,Dhaval and Srijan – has remained the same.
While the band has already released one album, the members have played no new songs since its release, almost two years ago. We have been unusually lazy in that department, laughs Mudgal, adding,Our plan is to hit the studio in the latter half of this year.
(Half Step Down will perform on February 5,at Ishanya Mall,4.30 pm onwards)
