The future officers of the tri-services should not get influenced by the miniscule percentage of people involved in wrongdoing.

“The future officers of the tri-services should not get influenced by the miniscule percentage of people involved in wrongdoing. There are such people in every strata of human endeavour, but credibility, camaraderie and honesty are still the basic elements of the foundation of the Armed Forces,” said Chief of Air Staff,Air Chief Marshal P V Naik,to NDA cadets on Saturday.

“NDA teaches one to be a good human being. There are a few who deviate from the values taught at the academy, but one must remain firm on the values inculcated here,” said Chief of the Army Staff,General V K Singh.

The message to the cadets came in the backdrop of the Adarsh housing scam in which names of defence personnel had cropped up.

Commenting on coastal security in the backdrop of the second anniversary of the 26/11 terror strike,Chief of the Naval Staff,Admiral Nirmal Verma, said,“Though preparedness of the Armed Forces is always judged based on physical assets, there are a lot of efforts being taken on the coordination and operational aspects, biometrics data, census and so on for instance. The physical assets would also be visible soon.”

“In military perspective, anything and anyone that interferes with growth and development of the nation is a threat. Long-term perspective plans have been developed by the tri- services to deal with such threats,” said Air Chief Marshal Naik. “Emphasis on capability building, force multiplication, surveillance have been our focus,” said Admiral Verma.
