Manohar Desai,a calligraphy artist from the city has received an award at the International Calligraphy Museum at Novgord,Russia for his contribution to the world of calligraphy and for his teaching techniques.

Desai had sent ten of his calligraphy paintings to the International Exhibition of Calligraphy held in Novgord from September 9-12,this year.

He conducts calligraphy workshops in various colleges across the nation. I believe in starting work by first helping people get rid of their fear of a blank canvas,paint and brush strokes. The class usually begins with students making graffiti. Then I start with the techniques and principles of calligraphy. By then students start to connect to it, said Desai. Desais next exhibition will be in Paris.
