State Minorities Commission chairman Munaf Hakeem on Friday said the most important task ahead of him was to build confidence among the minority communities in the state.
In the city as part of his state-wide tour,Hakeem held meetings with several delegates representing minority communities regarding implementation of various state schemes for the benefit of Muslims,Christians,Sikhs,Jains,Buddhists and Zoroastrians.
Hakeem was appointed chairman on August 29 and he immediately started his tour.
Hakeem said the commission has planned to arrange pre-examination training for youths of the minority communities who want to enter police service. It is important to have a fair representation of the minorities in the law enforcement body. For this,we have invited proposals from renowned coaching institutes. Financial assistance will be provided to eligible youths to study in these institutes which will help them crack the recruitment test, he said.
On his tour,he said,We have covered Parbhani,Nanded,Jalna and Aurangabad. Once the district-level tour is over,we will visit the assembly constituencies.
He said that among government moves, the Sachar committee report was most popular. The Maulana Azad Minorities Financial Development Corporation that provides assistance to set up business units is the most sought after. Similarly, popularity of educational loan schemes is also increasing among the Muslims. However, the recovery percentage of these loan schemes needs to be improved so that the corporation can swiftly get the funds, he said.
