BJP harps on development as poll plank

In a departure from the Lok Sabha poll campaign the BJP has decided to give equal importance to development while highlighting the failure of the government during the assembly poll.

In a departure from the Lok Sabha poll campaign the BJP has decided to give equal importance to development while highlighting the failure of the government during the assembly poll. State BJP chief Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said that the elections should be fought on development issues and that would be followed by his party in the assembly polls when it will focus on failure of DF government while making public his party’s plans on development.

“While seeking votes,we will give equal priority to highlighting the failure of the DF government and announcing our plans on development,” Gadkari said during the release of its vision document for the state.

He clarified that there will be a joint manifesto of Shiv Sena and BJP for the assembly polls which will have commitments for next five years if in power, while the vision document will be a charter of commitment that will have development plan for next 25 years.

Gadkari admitted that none of the political party fulfils the assurance completely after coming to power. “I will never claim that we can fulfil all assurances made during the polls, but confident that they will ten times better than the Congress-NCP,” state BJP chief said.

The alliance has become a compulsion for every party in the present political scenario. He said it works on give and take strategy for all alliance partners with a likelihood of injustice to loyal workers of each party.

Terming politics as a game of compromise,Gadkari said the real test for committed party workers is when party puts them in adverse situations.

The BJP leader accused the Congress-NCP of misusing the cooperative sector for political gain. “Most sugar mills and banks in cooperative sector are making losses. There is too much corruption by politicians that has damaged the true essence of the cooperative sector,” Gadkari said.

He said the Congress-NCP government has failed to meet the power demands of the state during the last ten years. “There is no need of government investment in the power sector and it should be opened entirely for the private sector. If the saffron combine comes to power, then the state would be made free from loadshedding in two years,” claimed Gadkari.

The vision document of BJP deals with issues related to agriculture, irrigation, rural and urban development, public health, industry, tourism, power and employment.
