The Bishop’s School has appealed to the city police to help them run the school without political pressure. School officials said they have been getting repeated threats from political groups regarding admissions.

Officials said they have received threats of a hunger strike in front of the school gate on June 12 from certain groups. School principal Frank Freese said,“We have been repeatedly receiving threats of protests, strikes and break-ins into the school from many political groups in order to pressurise during admisisons. They refuse to understand the fact that we have only limited number of seats and we cannot take in students after our admissions are closed. We give priority to students on a first-come first-serve merit basis.”

School officials said they have given the copy of the same letter to Lashkar police station. However, senior inspector Sushma Chavan said the school has orally informed them but no formal complaint has been lodged.

Freese said if the situation does not improve, they will get in touch with other city schools and hold peaceful protests. “We will hold a peace protest, instead of resorting to violence and threats to tell people about the problems that we’re facing,” he said.
