Bikes and Dislikes

Torn denims, checked shirt blended with a rugged watch and blue shoes — what makes VJ Ranvijay,a perfect ambassador of the M TV generation is not only his attire but also the chilled out attitude that he knows exactly how to wear.

All those who have been scrapping me on Facebook and Orkut are doing so on fake accounts beacuse I am on neither of them, says VJ Ranvijay

Torn denims, checked shirt blended with a rugged watch and blue shoes — what makes VJ Ranvijay,a perfect ambassador of the M TV generation is not only his attire but also the chilled out attitude that he knows exactly how to wear. In the city for the auditions of the second season of Stunt Mania Rockethon, the Roadies fame VJ talked about the show, his love for bikes and adventure and Pune, the city he spent nine months of his life in.

“The show is about stunts and bikes and we are looking for people who are passionate about riding, who are brave and at the same time interesting. In simple words we are looking for an amalgamation of skill and personality,” says the VJ who himself has been a product of Roadies,a popular reality show. But the journey from winning the contest to becoming the face of the channel hasn’t been an easy one for the adventure lover.

“I come from an army background and when my parents got to know about the fact that I chose this industry over the secured future in the defense services, they were shocked. It was the Roadies win and the journey till date that has convinced them that I am on the right track. Now,they are kind of used to the glamour that follows,” he smiles.

An adventure lover, bike enthusiast and the owner of five bikes,Ranvijay recalls spending nine months in Pune during his father’s posting to the city. “I remember practicing bike stunts with friends in an open space ahead of Kondhwa. What I like about the city is its young population. Pune has the largest population of two wheelers and that is the reason we are expecting a huge turnout at the auditions for a show which is bike centric,” he says.

A host to the first season of the reality show,Ranvijay is an out-and-out adventure lover and says that he hates spending time on the computer. “I am just too bad when it comes to replying to mails and messages. And probably that is the reason why I am not on Facebook and Orkut. The thing is that due to my father’s postings,I have studied in nine schools and remembering 45 different students of each batch is a Herculean task. That’s the reason, when my friends ask me why I do not reply to their scraps,I just tell them that they have been sending scraps to the fake accounts,” he laughs.
