After delaying the possession of around 240 flats at Wonder Futura in Kothrud by over two years,Bharati Developers has agreed to complete the project and hand over the flats by January 14. The decision was taken in a meeting of the builders, representatives of the flat owners and Shiv Sena leader Shyam Deshpande on Thursday.
We have agreed to complete at least 80 per cent of the amenities and hand over the flats by January 14, said Satish Mittal, partner,Bharati Developers.
According to Nikhil Roy,representative of Wonder Futura Association, the meeting took place amicably. The builder has agreed to complete the drainage work and construct a separate gas bank for piped gas in a month. He also agreed to the complete work on swimming pool, garden and childrens play area.
The next follow-up meeting has been scheduled on November 15. At least 100 flat owners had protested at the Wonder Futura site on Mumbai-Bangalore highway on Sunday, following which the Sena decided to intervene.
The Wonder Futura project, launched in 2003,was publicised as Punes first intelligent home with digital access, monitoring the visitor, auto on/off of electrical appliances and gas apart from amenities like swimming pool, club house, senior citizens park and childrens play area. The possession of all the 240 flats was promised in June 2007. However, flat owners are yet to receive the legal possession documents. While about 100 residents in phase I have received handover certificate with keys, brickwork of buildings in phase II are yet to be completed, a flat owner said.
About 12 flat owners have registered a complaint with Pune district consumer court while 26 more would file their complaints. Most flat owners have given full payment ranging between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 40 lakh to the builder for the two and three BHK flats.
