Baumuller sets up subsidiary in city

Nuremberg-based Baumuller,a manufacturer of automation and electric drive systems,which has been around in the Indian market for 12 years,announced the establishment of its subsidiary in Pune.

Nuremberg-based Baumuller,a manufacturer of automation and electric drive systems,which has been around in the Indian market for 12 years,announced the establishment of its subsidiary in Pune. It plans for further penetration in the local market starting with the textile,plastics and packaging industries.

Addressing a press conference here recently,Jochen Loy,Chief Executive of Baumuller Holding GmbH & Co said the company opted for Pune since there are a lot of Baumuller supported companies already based in the city “Secondly,Pune is an excellent source for good human resources due to the number of good engineering colleges and universities present here”.

Expanding on the subject of seeking out prospective employees from the city,Subramaniam Kumar,Managing Director,Baumuller India Pvt. Ltd. added,“We are currently in the process of identifying technicians. We are open to accepting people who hail from engineering backgrounds and are looking to employ them in our application and software departments in order to expand our base. We are aiming to increase our head count of engineers from the current 25 to double that in a year’s time and to 100 in three years”.

Kumar also explained Baumuller India’s other immediate objectives,“The customers needed a service setup in India and that is the reason Baumuller is taking the initiative. Within our first year of expansion we plan to consolidate our operations. We are expecting a growth of at least 25 per cent through working with our customers”.

Loy stated on how this expansion reflects Baumuller’s recognition of India as having the potential of being a great growth market in the future.

“This is a long-term commitment Baumuller is making to position ourselves as a complete solution provider and systems provider for Indian and imported machines. India is a region of great importance to us as it takes us one step further in not only developing the local market but also in supporting global customers who are expanding their activities across Asia,”
