Modi to campaign
The BJP will have Narendra Modi as its star campaigner for the Pune Municipal Corporation polls. The star other campaigners for the state would be Nitin Gadkari,Gopinath Munde,Sushma Swaraj,Eknath Khadse,Vinod Tawde. Tawade is expected to campaign in the city on February 11. At a press conference on Wednesday,PMC standing committee chairman Ganesh Bidkar,who is contesting from panel 39,criticised Guardian Minister Ajit Pawars statement on Metro.
ZP polls: 65.60% turnout
The final voting percentage figures for the Zilla Parishad elections released on Wednesday was at 65.60 per cent. Velhe recorded the highest turnout,registering 73.87 per cent,followed by Indapur at 72.89 per cent while Haveli recorded only 55.85 per cent turnout,the lowest turnout among the 13 taluks in the district. Nearly 25 lakh voters voted for 75 zilla parishad seats and 150 panchayat samiti seats.
