Bahubali, RRR composer MM Keeravani: ‘My father made me compose one tune daily’
“My father made me compose one tune daily. This practice has played a pivotal role in shaping my music sensibilities,” said Keeravani who also goes by a variation of the name – MM Kreem.

Oscar-winning music director MM Keeravani, who has been honoured with SD Burman Award at the ongoing 22nd edition of Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) for his contribution to film music, recalled how his father played a pivotal role in his training in music.
“My father made me compose one tune daily. This practice has played a pivotal role in shaping my music sensibilities,” said Keeravani who also goes by a variation of the name – MM Kreem.
The music director known for composing music for blockbuster hits Baahubali (I and 2) and RRR, participated in a candid discussion with PIFF director Dr. Jabbar Patel at the Sumant Moolgaokar Auditorium, MCCIA Trade Tower. He dwelled on topics such as Indian classical music and contemporary music, and contributions to the field of music by Laxmikant–Pyarelal, Lata Mangeshkar, RD Burman.
Keeravani said that he held that the tune was an expression of the lyrics and that inputs from the director, singer, and composer were essential for him to compose a song.
‘Music can heal and also damage’, said Keeravani while discussing music therapy and the fusion of traditional and contemporary music. He said that incorporating elements from various musical styles enhances storytelling, creating a dynamic and engaging experience for the audience.
