Senses-a chic new multi-cuisine restaurant at the Oakwood Premier offers gourmet cuisine served well

As you take in the understated elegance of Senses, the multi-cuisine,fine dining restaurant at the recently-launched Oakwood Premier in Ghorpadi, the anticipation for the kind of food served up only increases. And when it does make an appearance,it’s every bit as delectable as expected. Everything, right from the presentation to the actual taste, matches expectations, leaving you asking for more.

As Vrushali Kummar, marketing communications manager,Oakwood Premier says,“The restaurant has been named Senses since it aims to appeal classically to your palate and appeal to your senses of taste and smell.” In a menu card devoid of too many trappings,it’s the classification of the fare which catches the eye. “The menu is categorised into Pan Le’Grill,Pan Oriental,Pan Italian,Pan Indian and Pan Fusion,” says Chef Rakesh Kumar, executive chef. “In short, you have here the best of five totally diverse cuisines, offered in the most aesthetic manner possible,” he adds.

With an exhaustive menu spanning a range of tastes and culinary influences,it’s a good idea to thoroughly peruse the menu before settling down to sample the fare. There’s a choice of Turkey Teased Caesar (Iceberg lettuce tossed with smoked turkey breast, bacon and sun-dried tomatoes in Caesar dressing) — Rs 395,Sydney to Hobart (Exotic mousse of Sydney avocado and Tasmanian salmon with a prawn encased, topped with salmon roe) – Rs 400 and Crudités of Vegetables (Purple pimentos, rocket lettuce, celery,Holland cucumbers and cherry tomatoes with goat cheese and garlic yoghurt dip) – Rs 325. For the main course,Chef Rakesh Kumar recommends,“The Morels Valentino (Morels soaked overnight in red wine, pocketed with goat cheese, served with salsa,in a jumbo vol-au-vent) — Rs 900,the Organic Mediterranean Vegetable Skewers with Sour Hummus (Rs 400) and the Valencia Prawns (Citrus-soaked tiger prawns grilled and draped in smoked salmon, served with grapefruit lemon butter sauce) – Rs 900,are just some of the unique preparations on offer here and which I strongly recommend, for the taste and the experience.” From the Pan Indian stable, there’s a choice of a done-to-perfection Dal Birbali Makhni (Black lentils cooked over slow heat overnight) — Rs 250,Khumani ke Kofte (Potato and black gram dumplings with apricot and khoya stuffing, served in saffron-flavoured cashew gravy) – Rs 325,apart from the regular Paneer and vegetable dishes. There’s another section titled On a Lighter Note, which is ideal if you are looking at having a quick bite.

“For desserts, there’s a choice of Passion Fruit and Chocolate Tear Mousse (Rs 300),Orange Savarin with Raspberry Caramel (Rs 300) and the Bharwan Gulab Jamun (Rs 200),” adds Kumar.
