Attack on Borwankars sons: Police arrest 3 more
Chatushrungi police on Thursday arrested three more people in connection to the alleged attack on two sons of senior police officer Meeran Borwankar.
Chatushrungi police on Thursday arrested three more people in connection to the alleged attack on two sons of senior police officer Meeran Borwankar. The accused have been identified as Balia Ranavat (45),Narayan Meghavat and Sherya Dhanavat (20). Police had earlier arrested six people in the case and seized the car and the stone,which was thrown at one them causing minor injury.
On Tuesday night,the accused assaulted Ankur and Nikhil,sons of former Pune police commissioner Meeran Borwankar,who is currently head of state prison department. The incident had taken place around 11 pm near Hotel Green Park on Baner Road,when the two were going to meet a friend on their bike.
In the complaint,Ankur and Nikhil said that a car tried to overtake them but because of the high speed it took some time. When the car actually overtook them,it stopped and the accused verbally abused and attacked them. One of them also threw a stone at Ankur.
Initially,police arrested four labour contractors,Kishore Ranawat (19),Dikyaram Meghavat (55),Bacchan Dhanawat (19) and Motya Meghavat (30),from Sanjay Gandhi Vasahat in Pashan. Later two more people were arrested.
Senior inspector Ajay Kadam said,The two had mentioned that there were nine people. We have arrested all nine. The three people arrested on Thursday were released on bail.
