Arrested former MLA in custody

Former Congress MLA,Sambhaji Ramchandra Kunjir,63,who was arrested for allegedly opening fire at a watchman in Theur following a land dispute last Tuesday,was on Sunday sent to custody till June 28.

Former Congress MLA,Sambhaji Ramchandra Kunjir,63,who was arrested for allegedly opening fire at a watchman in Theur following a land dispute last Tuesday,was on Sunday sent to custody till June 28.

Kunjir and his men had gone to retired Commander Deepak Naik’s stockyard in Theur,where they had a quarrel with the watchman and workers. The injured watchman,Balu Sunil Hiwale,24,was hospitalised after the incident. A complaint of attempt to murder was lodged against Kunjir. Kunjir had lodged a cross complaint against the watchman attacked him and hence he had to open fire in self defence.

Police had then arrested Kunjir,but he was hospitalised later. He was discharged on Sunday and produced before the magistrate court.
