Chahande takes over as acting V-C
Director general of Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (Yashada) Dr Sanjay Chahande will now be the acting vice-chancellor of UoP in the wake of the resignation of V-C R K Shevgaonkar. Shevgaonkar will now be director of Indian Institute of Technology,Delhi.
PCMC begins Aundh-Ravet BRTS Road work
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has started work for Aundh-Ravet BRTS Road. Municipal Commissioner Asheesh Sharma said they received a letter from Army authorities giving green signal to the work which was stuck for months after the Army told the PCMC to pay for land transfer.
Water woes: Residents gherao PCMC civic chief
Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Asheesh Sharma was gheraoed by residents of Talawade,Chikhali,Triveningar and Rupeenagar over water shortage in their areas. “There were problems with the water supply syste but we will soon resolve the problem and the residents will get sufficient supply,” he said.
Stalwarts felicitated
The Lions Club of Poona Kirkee Foundation and the Vijay Laxman Kudale Foundation felicitated stalwarts from different fields with Lions-Vilux Life Time Award and Lions Vilux Golden Achievement Award at the Balgandharva Rang Mandir on Wednesday. The event marked the beginning of the golden jubilee celebrations of Lions Club of Poona,Kirkee and the birth centenary of the founder of Vijay Laxman Kudale foundation,Dadasaheb Kudale. Dhanraj Pillai,former captain of Indian Hockey team,Vivek Aranha,head of Rosary Education Group,Dr K H Sancheti,director of Sancheti Hospital and ghazal singer Pamela Singh were felicitated.
Retirement India Expo from September 23
The Dignity Foundation along with Vision India is organising Retirement India EXPO 2011 from September 23 to 25 at Ganesh Kala Krida Kendra,Swargate. The event will also be held in Hyderabad,Mumbai,Chennai and Bengaluru.
Mono-acting competition organised
The mono acting competition held by Rotary Club of Nigdi-Pune at MES Auditorium,Kothrud,was won by Bhushan Tapaswi,Shreyes Paranjape and Anagha Ratnaparkhi who won the first prize in their groups. District cultural committee chairman Shekhar Naniwadekar was the guest of honour.
