Two held in Bengal with fake currency worth thousands
Nigdi police on Friday afternoon arrested two men in West Bengal with fake currency worth Rs 54,000 and original currency of Rs 1.37 lakh. The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammed Bilal Shaikh (25) and Abdul Kadus Khaikh (22).
Senior police inspector Sharad Ugale from the Nigdi police station said,Their modus operandi was to go to shops and give a fake Rs 1,000 note to the shopkeeper and buy things worth Rs 100 or 200. This way they would get the things from the shop and and real currency as well. We believe they collected the real currency found with them this way. We will produce the two in the court on Saturday.
Tinted glass: cops fine 251 vehicles on day one
Pune Traffic Police on Friday started a drive against commercial vehicles with tinted glasses with opacity beyond permitted standards. On the first day,action was taken against 251 four-wheelers till evening. All of them were fined Rs 100 and the lamination on their glasses were torn off, said Inspector Vijaykumar Palsule.
As Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Manoj Patil had stated earlier,the drive will only be against the commercial vehicles in the first phase. Action against other vehicles will commence in a months time,police said.
