The Army’s Pune-headquartered Southern Command has successfully conducted the Akhand Prahaar exercise across the desert sector in Rajasthan as part of the tri-services exercise Trishul. The exercise, which concluded on Wednesday, validated full-spectrum combat readiness of Konark Corps through integrated employment of all arms and services including special heliborne operations along with fighter ground attack missions of the Indian Air Force, the Southern Command said in a press statement.

The Southern Command has been conducting a series of tri-services exercises under the overarching framework of the Trishul exercise to validate full-spectrum land–sea–air integration embodying the idea of JAI–jointness, atmanirbharta and innovation in action. This is the first tri-services military exercise of this scale along the western border with Pakistan since Operation Sindoor in May. Southern Army Commander Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth reviewed the operational readiness of the Konark Corps.

The press statement about Akhand Prahaar read, “The exercise validated full-spectrum combat readiness of Konark Corps through integrated employment of all arms and services from mechanised and infantry manoeuvres to the execution of land operations by the Rudra Brigade, Special Heliborne Operations, and coordinated Attack Helicopter missions by Army Aviation. The exercise also served as a real-time testbed for evaluating next-generation indigenous technologies under realistic battlefield conditions. The employment of indigenous drones, unmanned systems, counter-drone systems and electronic warfare grid underscored India’s growing technological edge in line with the national vision of atmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defence.

“The exercise reaffirmed the Konark Corps’ transformation into a modern, agile and networked force — future-ready for multi-domain, high-tempo operations. The Army Commander commended all participating formations and units for their professionalism, innovation and joint operational excellence epitomising Southern Command’s ethos of Jointness, Technology Absorption and Operational Excellence. Exercise Akhand Prahaar reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment to operational excellence, joint force integration, and precision warfare.” the release added.

Reflecting the armed forces’ expanding multi-domain capabilities and focus on atmanirbharta in defence, the Trishul exercise commenced with mission-focused validations to strengthen integrated readiness across multiple domains. Covering electronic warfare, cyber, drone and counter-drone operations, along with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) as well as air defence control and reporting, the exercises reaffirm tri-service preparedness to dominate both virtual and physical domains through seamless land, sea, and air integration for coordinated joint operations, the statement added.
