The incident occurred during Pawar’s visit to Akola on November 8 for a farmers’ interaction programme.
A young man from Akola has written an unusual letter to Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, requesting help in getting married and describing the “favour” as something he “will never forget”. The appeal has drawn attention to a deepening marriage crisis among the rural youth in Maharashtra.
The incident occurred during Pawar’s visit to Akola on November 8 for a farmers’ interaction programme. After addressing local issues, Pawar met farmers, other residents, and youngsters who handed over written requests. Among them was a letter from a man seeking help with finding a wife.
According to the letter submitted to Pawar, the man expressed fear that he might “remain single forever” and pleaded for help in finding a wife.
“My age is increasing. In the future, I may never get married. I will remain alone. So, considering my life, please help me find a wife. A girl from any community is fine for me. I am even willing to live at her home. I will work well there and take good care of the household, I assure you. Please give me a new lease of life. I will never forget your favour,” the letter stated.
The letter has since circulated widely on social media. Pawar has not yet publicly commented on the letter.
