When the top brass at Apollo Hospitals planned its expansion in Pune, their guiding thought was simple. “This hospital must become an integral part of the city’s healthcare fabric and the aim is to support and elevate care for the community,” Dr Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals told The Indian Express on the occasion of opening its newest facility in Pune’s Swargate on Monday.
“There are plans to expand further to meet the growing healthcare needs of the region,” Dr Suneeta Reddy, Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited added. “Every Apollo hospital is created with long-term commitment in mind, and Pune is no exception. We are opening in phases beginning with 250 beds, so that the hospital grows steadily and is always in alignment with the region’s needs,” Dr Preetha Reddy added.
Apollo Hospitals Pune represents a deliberate expansion of high-acuity, technology-enabled care in Western India. “This is the third facility in Maharashtra,” Dr Preetha Reddy said.
On a query related to affordability, Dr Preetha Reddy said Pune’s families will have access to a wide range of tariffs, strong insurance partnerships, and all major government health schemes. “We want high-quality care to be accessible and comforting. Our investments in digital health, remote monitoring and evidence-based clinical pathways bring down complications, reduce hospital stays, and lighten the financial burden on families. Our promise to Pune is that care will be advanced yet humane, technologically strong yet deeply accessible, always delivered with integrity and compassion,” she added.
“Structured referral pathways will ensure citizens move seamlessly from primary or secondary care to advanced intervention whenever needed. Joint emergency preparedness programs, training initiatives, and support for complex cases will be key areas of engagement,” Dr Preetha Reddy said. She also added that they were bringing enhanced expertise in cardiac sciences, precision oncology, critical care, transplant medicine, orthopaedics, and mother-and-child health. “The infrastructure includes modular operating theatres, advanced ICUs, robotic systems, and specialised neonatal intensive care,” she said.
Senior clinicians from across Apollo’s national network will anchor specialised programmes and as a SMART (seamless, modern, accessible, responsible, and tech-enabled) hospital, it will offer 30 medical specialties, 11 modular operation theatres, and the advanced Alpha Lite Robot, authorities said. Meanwhile, in a video message, Dr Prathap C Reddy, Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals Group, said their mission was to transform healthcare not just in India but for the world. Dr Madhu Sasidhar, CEO and President, Apollo Hospitals and Dr Manisha Karmarkar , CEO, Apollo Hospitals Pune also spoke on the occasion.
