The anti-corruption protests at Balgandharva Chowk organised by India Against Corruption (IAC) on Sunday saw enthusiastic response from citizens. IAC activists sang patriotic songs after which a discussion was held where volunteers expressed their views on corruption confronting the nation today. The rally ended with a march to Shaniwarwada where a candlelight protest was held. We have previously held two sit-ins at the same venue, said volunteer B B Soman.
The rally has been organised for today only, however if the Bill is not passed by December 27,we will again go on a fast, he said. We have been involved in this movement since Anna Hazare started it, he added.
Another volunteer Sadashiv Kulte said, It seems the government does not want to solve the problems of the people.
Soman, however, urged the volunteers to refrain from making any personal attacks.
He said that even though Anna has said that the Lokpal Bill will reduce corruption by only 65 per cent it implies that the citizens of this country also have some responsibility towards the nation.
Another volunteer Mayuri Khairnar said after the Bill comes into effect,it is up to us to implement it in a proper manner.
