A phone call saved Vishal Chavan and Amol Tikale, both 20-year old art graduates from Amravati, who had already boarded the Nagpur-bound bus to go to Amravati to collect their degree certificates. Half-an-hour later,a friend called them and told them there was no need to rush and the certificates could be collected later. Since they had to attend coaching class on Monday, they decided to stay back and got down.
A few days ago,we got to know that our degree certificates had arrived and could be collected from the university. We planned to visit Amravati and collect the certificates from our university. We booked tickets and boarded the bus at 7 pm from Sangamvadi on Sunday. After half an hour,a friend from Amravati called us and told us there was no need to collect the certificates urgently and could be collected any time later. As we had classes the next morning we decided to get down. We got down when the bus reached Yerwada, said Vishal.
Both are preparing for civil service examinations and attend classes at Study Circle in the city.
I cant stop thinking that had my friend not called,we would have continued the journey and may have been dead. We are lucky but at the same time we are upset for those who werent as lucky, said Vishal.
