According to the FIR lodged by the deceased’s brother, Shubham Vijay Bolate, the incident took place when he, Mohanish Bolate and six of their friends went to the Panshet area.

In his statement, the deceased’s brother said that they had sat down on the banks of the Panshet dam, while Mohanish Bolate and one of their friends went into the water for a swim. A while later, their friend alerted the others that Mohanish Bolate could not be seen anywhere. They tried to contact the local authorities but were not able to do so due to the unavailability of a mobile network.

After they got a signal, the group informed the local residents, along with the Velhe police station and the disaster management team. They were able to trace Mohanish Bolate shortly after. The victim was rushed to the local hospital, but it was found that he had passed away before any medical assistance could be given.
