3 held for betting on cricket match

The Pune police arrested three persons for allegedly betting on the India- Sri Lanka cricket match on Thursday evening.

The Pune police arrested three persons for allegedly betting on the India- Sri Lanka cricket match on Thursday evening. The suspects have been identified as Mahendra Motilal Singvi (50) of Sukhsagarnagar,Chandrashekhar Ganpat Raut (36) of Katraj and Narayan Bapurao Dandawate (24) of Gangadham Road.

Acting on a tip-off,the Swargate and Bundgarden police arrested the trio at a room in Market Yard on Thursday evening. Police recovered eight cellphones,a computer,printer,lap top along with a cash of Rs 3.1 lakh from the suspects. Police said that suspects were receiving calls from people for betting over the final cricket match of Asia Cup between India and Sri Lanka. Police inspector Sudhakar Kate of Bundgarden police station has lodged the complaint in this case. Assistant commissioner of police (Swargate division) is investigating the case. Police are probing if more people are involved in the racket.
